Anyone know why? I just removed Office 2003 Pro, set in Program defaults for
Microsoft Windows to be the defaults, the box came up to configure
everything and I saw it put OE as default. I installed Office 2003 Pro,
installed all the patches, and in program defaults it is back to custom and
use your current e-mail client selected with no Outlook as a option. In the
start menu Shows IE & Outlook as main apps. In IE, E-mail, Cal, Contact is
Microsoft Office Outlook.

There is no reason for Outlook to be running this slow, my first PST is 300
some megs and the second PST I have attached is 700megs. ScanPST and
compress do not offer any improvments.

Also the HD thrashes and my computer becomes alot slower. I have no spyware.
I yanked out all plugins.

Any ideas?

Define "slow." How many accounts are you checking? What is the interval
you set for checking? If you increase the interval to 10 minutes, does the
send/receive speed up?

the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After furious head scratching, Eric C. Vogel asked:

Yes, but this has been going on since I coverted over in Oct/Nov of 04. So
that is not it either.

3 pop3's. No intervals, I had to turn it off due to the slowness. Slow means
mail comes in SLOW (Fast in OE) and the hard drive is being used like a mad
man and anything else I do is slower because Outlook hogs too much resorces.
This started as soon as I switched from OE to Outlook. Before in Outlook I
did not use it for e-mail. I guess my last shot is to remove Office Pro,
FrontPage, OneNote, but I am tiring of getting this to work. At work, I
check more e-mail (Outlook checks the pop3) with an exchange server at the
backend (note different ISP for most).

Oh, I have my msn.com account in there as imap, but OLC is removed right
now. So it is not checking I assume. Issue was going on before also. I
removed all programs that tie into Outlook. I just have Inboxer installed
right now. If I remove it, same results. I miss MSN Desktop Search, Lookout
(Searchs within Outlook and better UI and features), OLC). Oh, and I
installed MSN Direct Calendar sync for my watch, but again issues have been
going on before that.

It was odd when I opened Outlook for the first time that it did not ask to
be the default mail client, it just knew. But when I set the prog defaults
to MS Win and I saw the settings say Setting e-mail client to OE... So why
it did not prompt me...

Thank you,
Eric
