Hi,

Once again I have a question from a friend who has 2003,
but isn't up to accessing newsgroups. I'm working on
getting myself an upgrade to 2003 so I can become more
conversant, but in the meantime turn to the community here
for help.

Friend is receiving lots of emails with text links to
websites, email addresses, and pictures that would
normally be embedded in an HTML message. This is way
different than what she is used to an would like this
turned off.

Am I on the right tract in thinking this is one of 2003's
security default features? How can 2003 be set so that
it behaves more like earlier versions and lets pictures
and live links appear in an email message?

Of course if I'm completely off base, let me know and
point me in the right direction!

TIA.

it sounds like read as plain is enabled - she can look in the infobar (if
the header and infobar isn't showing in preview, right click on the gray
border around the preview pane and select show header) she can switch to
html there or go into tools, options... I think email options (don't have
outlook handy) and remove the check from read as plain. (if it's not in
email options, try Other, Advanced options.)

if she is seeing html formatting but a big red x where images should be, she
needs to r-click on the image placeholder and choose download. she can
disable the option from there as well, although I recommend using it and
showing only what she needs as she needs it.

Thanks again Diane. This sounds like it must be it and
I'll pass on the information. Now off to eBay to search
for a new Office 2003!
