Outlook 2003--removing Exchange as email

I need to change the configuration of my home Outlook from using my corporate
Exchange server to my personal POP3 account.

I originally configured Outlook at home to work with our company's exchange
server via our VPN connection. I no longer have the VPN & exchange setup and
want to change the configuration back to just using the internet and my POP3
accounts. Here's the problem:

When I bring up Outlook it looks for the exchange server. After it times
out it comes up with a dialog box asking me if I want to Try Again, Work
Offline or Cancel. Retrying gets me back to the same dialog box. Work
Offline ends up giving me another error message saying "Unable to open your
default email folders. The information store could not be opened". I click
on Okay and it closes Outlook.

How do I reconfigure Outlook to get rid of the exchange option. BTW: I
deleted the original Outlook icon off of my desktop and I can not get to the
Outlook real properties/options dialog boxes.

Thanks in advance for your help.

In the control panel, there is a Mail applet. Select Show Profiles and
create a new profile (you can even set it as the default account after you
get it created). Since it doesn't sound like you had offline folders going
in your Exchange account, it sounds like it is safe to remove the Exchange
profile.
