I went back to Office XP, since Office 2003 is
so "bloated" that it was really slow on my 2Ghz laptop. I
need to open my 2003 data files to retrieve the data in
them from within Outlook XP. Any help would be
appreciated, as they don't seem to be compatible.....

The only way to do it is to reinstall Outlook 2003 and create a new .PST
file in the old Outlook 97-2002 format, then copy the items from the 2003
file to the old format file. You can then use the old format file with
Outlook 2002.

You need to convert the data files back to the older data file format.
Create a new .pst file and choose the older data format. Then move all of
your data from the 2003 data file to the older data file format.
