I'm sure I've seen the answer to this problem somewhere, but I can't see
to find teh conversation, so please forgive me for asking it.....

I'm using Outlook 2003 on a laptop running Windows XP (SP2).
I have noticed that when I am connected to the internet, my e-mail
messages have the graphics/pictures in the message, but when I am not
connected to the internet, then I just get the placeholders.

I've been to Tools|Options|Security|Change Automatic Download Settings
and I can confirm that the "Don't download pictures or other content
automatically..." is unchecked.

Is there som other setting that I need to make?

I can't understand why it's Ok when I'm online, but not when I'm
offline...

Thanks for your patience....

Martin

That's the way it works with HTML messages.

I get the same. It views the pictures in an HTML email as though the message
was a webpage.

I don't think it stores those pictures "locally", just the text and
placeholders.

Nik.

Do you have it checked to allow content from people in your contacts? Did
you change the download settings to allow images, apply, then set it to not
allow and apply?

did you install SP1?

Pictures Outlook gets in HTML messages are stored in Temporary Internet
Files, I believe.
