Outlook 2003 over VPN

Hello,

I am trying to connect Outlook 2003 over a VPN connection to exchange 2003
on server 2003. This connection works fine when I connect directly to my
cable modem. But as soon as I go through my router I can no longer
connect. If I use Outlook 2000 it works fine both ways. I do not have
anything being blocked on my router that I can see. This exact same thing
happens on some one elses computer at work here as well. Can anyone help me
with why this happens and how to fix it?

Check DNS settings. Make sure you can ping Exchange server by fully qualified
domain name.

This can be caused by an incorrect MTU setting in the router.
 
I would also suggest looking RPC over HTTP if you are using Exchange 2003
and Outlook 2003. No VPN Required.
 
Check the MTU settings. The default 1500 will not work correctly with 2003.
Also make sure that the internal router IP is not on the same subnet as your
corporate internal network. E.g. 192.168.1.x for home and 19.168.1.x for
corporate. If it's the case, change the home router to 192.168.x(anything
but work).x

I believe 1400, 1472, or 1492 will work. All three values appear if you
Google for this problem. I'd start with the highest and try a lower value
of that didn't work.
 
Generally there are a couple - One in your router, the one on your VPN
client. I'd start with the MTU of the VPN client
