Hi,
This is a second request for help, as maybe the title of my firs
request wasn't enough. Let me say, I love Outlook 2003, having sai
that I have 2 issues that I just can't seem to resolve, first i
regarding using Outlook to read newsgroups. I go into interene
options, programs and set OE as the news reader, and it works fine fo
that ONE time, then if I try to access the newsreader using the new
button (created by following the instructions) it goes to a folde
called 1033, and I have to go back to IE options and reset OE as th
newsreader because it has been changed to a blank field. I hope thi
makes sense. This doesn't happen on my laptop, at least so far.

Second, and just an annoyance more than a problem, quite often I'
asked if I want IE as my default browser (even though it is checked
and OE as my default newsreader (when it works). How do I stop fro
getting these constantly? This happens on both my desktop and laptop
but I'm sure the fix will apply to both.

Thanks for your time and help.

Happy Holidays,
A

How did you resolve it? I think i am having the same problem....maybe it is
different.

I recently got a new PC, but I was previously using Windows XP and Office
2000. However I was formerlyusing Outlook Express. I decided I wanted to
begin using Outlook so that i could use the calendar feature, which OE
doesn't have.

I set up my newsgroups earlier tonight, in Outlook, following the cumbersom
instructions to customize my "GO" menu, and it worked FINE! (I got the
instructions from the help menu and re-confirmed the directions online at MS
Help.)
But later in the evening I tried to go back to my newsgroups from Outlook,
and it is now GONE from the "GO" menu, AND it has disappeared from my
customize menu as well!
So the only way I could get here was to close Outlook and open Outlook
Express!!!!
What is the deal? Is there any way to get it to get it back on my Outlook
menu and keep it there?

Never mind......I found my answer in one of the other posts.... and it seems
to work!

To get the News command back, go back to the Programs tab in Control Panel |
Internet Options and change the default newsreader to Outlook Express. If
OE prompts you to make it your default newsreader the next time you launch
it, clear the "Always perform this check..." box and then click the No
button.

You may need to reset the Menu Bar and/or restart Outlook and/or reboot your
machine in order to complete the process. Not everyone is reporting success
with this method, but try it and see what happens. If all else fails, you
can always create a desktop shortcut to Outlook Express and include the
/outnews switch -- that gives you the same result as accessing the
newsreader via the News command in Outlook.

Thanks anyway!
