Outlook 2003 missing data

Ok I have a major problem here. I am using Microsoft Office 2003 with all
available updates running on a windows Xp Home machine with full updates.
Outlook has worked fine until today (the day I intended to back up all the
files from it). I went to receive my email and it sent me an error message
saying that the connection was interrupted and failed to download the
messages. I contacted Microsoft who told me to get the program to check and
repair itself however now it seems to have deleted all of my email. Is there
anything I can do to get the data back or is it hopeless.

The first thing you'll want to do is open up Windows Explorer and unhide
hidden folders and files. Then do a file search for *.pst. This should hold
your email. Seeing as you were going to run a backup anyway, here's the
