Most outgoing email awaiting sending does not send in
response to any send command. An occasional message will
send, but most don't respond, forcing me to move those
messages to another machine with with Outlook XP
installed.

Why won't my mail send? Incidentally, it all worked fine
for several days after I installed Office 2003.

Have cable access with several user names, and one dial-
up account that under Outlook XP and during the inital
couple of Outlook 2003 days both sent and received
through the cable (cox) account (with the cable smtp
cable system settings in that box). This malfunction,
however, is an equal opp failing that (most of the time)
won't send from either cable or dialup accounts.

Is this an evil spirit or what!?

From my experience, you have a corrupted email. I would try this.

Move all of the outbox mail to a test folder. Then, move one message at a
time to the 'Draft' folder. Click send. Keep doing this until one of them
won't send. Move that one back to the test folder, then move all of the
other emails to 'Draft' and send all of them. If they all go, you found your
problem. If they don't all go, then you may have more than one corrupted
emails.

Another option, and this has worked for me everytime. Is create a 'New
Message.' Cut and paste the Subject and Body text of the email that won't
send into the new email. Delete the old email, since you now have a carbon
copy. Send the new one, and it should fly out of there.

I had the same problem at my old work computer.

I would send a message, yet it would sit in my outbox...

Have you tried to hit the send/receive button?

That usually speeds up the process once the email is in
your outbox

are you getting any error messages in the send/receive dialog?

find and rename the *.srs file for your program. it's a hidden file here:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

what addins do you have installed?
