I've set up 2 similar machines, one with Outlook 2000 and the other
with Outlook 2003 (both a fresh install) and there is a HUGE
performance problem with Outlook 2003.

The Outlook 2K downloads mail very quickly and is what I'm used to,
but Outlook 2003 takes ~2 seconds per message to download.

Both Outlooks are checking 14 POP accounts and the only difference I
can see is Outlook 2003 tries to download from all POPs at the same
time. Is there any way to turn this off?

You can create different send and receive groups that are on different check
every xx times. (tools, send/receive settings)

Were you using Outlook 2000 in IMO mode (see help, about) - it handles pop
faster because it doesn't have as much MAPI code in it. Outlook needs mapi
to talk to exchange server and outlook 2003 can talk to exchange, so it's
slower.
