Outlook 2003 installed with Office 2003 Professional
I had to post this message from a separate program.
After adding "News" to the Go menu (using customize), it disapeared
completely.
I've checked all icons and command options to make sure it didn't accidently
get moved.
I also tried reinstall both with the repair option and the complete
reinstall option from the control panel.
I'm at a loss as to how to get it reinstated (other than completely removing
Office 2003).
Any suggestions?

It's a known issue. Try the following -- it seems to work for many:

To get the News command back, go back to the Programs tab in Control Panel |
Internet Options and change the default newsreader to Outlook Express. If
OE prompts you to make it your default newsreader the next time you launch
it, clear the "Always perform this check..." box and then click the No
button.

You may need to reset the Menu Bar and/or restart Outlook and/or reboot your
machine in order to complete the process. Not everyone is reporting success
with this method, but try it and see what happens. If all else fails, you
can always create a desktop shortcut to Outlook Express and include the
/newsonly switch -- that gives you the same result as accessing the
newsreader via the News command in Outlook.

I had the same problem and the sequence outlined below worked for me. Good
luck.

Thanks I tried it and the news item reappeared in the GO
menu. I am back in business and thank you.

Greetings,
After receiving a reply from Microsoft support, who gave a somewhat
elaborate fix, it appears this is the best answer. After applying his
routine, discovered that making Outlook Express the default newreader solved
the problem.
Thank you for your reply.
