Outlook 2003 Issue with Check Names

Jeff

I have upgraded to Outlook 2003 from Outlook XP, no
problems. I then was given a new laptop (Dell Precision
M60) and then re-installed all of my stuff, including
Outlook 2003.

My problem is that I used to be able to do a Check Names
with the name spelled..."Last, First" or "First Last" and
it would search correctly through my Global Address Book
(work) and my Personal Contacts. It worked great. Since
the rebuild, I can ONLY search via "Last, First".
The "First Last" search does not work.

Any suggestions or known issues?

I've Googled and searched...others have the problem, but
I didn't see any solutions.

Thanks for you time.

By default names are sorted by "first name, last name". If you want to
change this to "last name, first name" do the following;

Go to Control Panel-> Mail-> E-mail Accounts-> View or change existing
directories or address books-> select Outlook Address Book-> Change.

At the bottom you can set the way the names are sorted.

(I changed my reply address; remove all CAPS and _underscores_ from the
address when mailing)

What does that have to do with Check Names? Also, this
used to work before I rebuilt the machine. It defaults
to first, last???? That doesn't make any sense.

Any other thoughts?

Jeff,
I'm not familiar with OL 2003, but my OL 2000 also checks both ways. I may
be wrong, but I'm thnking a registry key may have become corrupted. On mine
I can turn the check names on and off by doing the following:
1.. On the Tools menu, click Options.
2.. Click the Preferences tab, click E-Mail Options, and then click
Advanced E-Mail Options.
3.. Select or clear the Automatic name checking check box
If you toggle this setting, close OL and restart, MAYBE the registry key
will be reset???? (I hope).

Anyway, Good Luck
