Title tells what I did.

Problem: User is now prompted about old appointments. What is the best
practice means of doing this correctly?

Background:
Users are using PSTs, that may reside on PCs or laptops, that are not getting
backed up.
We transition the users to Outlook 2003, w/ cached exchange mode, as we want
to be able to back up the email on the server.
We have to get the information from their PST, and put it in their mailbox,
so we have been using the "import" method.

However, this causes issues with the calendar (appointments) Everything
else is
okay.

Could I be told "why" the old appointments pop up? (Is it because they are
new to
that calendar?) and is there a workaround for this problem?

Thanks!

Open the old PST in Outlook and copy the contents of the calendar folder in
it to the mailbox calendar folder.

Contacts may not have their mail addresses and phone numbers resolved and
any birthdays or anniversaries may not be added to the calendar. Importing
from a PST can also damage the mail profile. In general, importing from a
PST should be avoided. Opening the PST and copying from the folders to the
mailbox is better.

Off hand, I really don't know why you're seeing the reminder behavior, but
it's not surprising to me.
