Outlook 2003 - how do I stop it from trying to dial every time program is opened/

Thought this would be simple... after all Outlook 2000 did not seem so
insistent on connecting... just want to set it up to connect manually or,
preferably ONLY when it detects an open connection.
 
You need to put the question in the body of the post, not in the title. To
stop OL dialing out, go to Tools, Accts, Change, More settings, Connection &
change it to the appropriate setting.

You have disabled automatic Send/Receive settings, right?
