Hello all,

I am new to Outlook 2003. I used to use Outlook express at home. I just did
upgrade last night because I am using Outlook 2003 at work and think it is
nice to have the same program running for home as well.

I guess I forgot what I have done, but eventually I have 2 personal folders
shown in my "All Mail Folders" pane. Both of them all point to "Outlook.pst"
in the default directory. And these 2 personal folders have same information
and can not be removed. I have tried several things to remove but all the
effort was useless. I guess I look for this news group for my last hope.
Here are what I have tried before.

Method 1:
1. I create another personal.pst and set it as the default delivery
location, then restart Outlook 2003.
2. Tried to close the original personal folder but then the system has error
message said "This operation failed. The object can not be found". When I
right click the property and hit "Advance" button, it complained "This
operation failed. The object can not be found".
3. So this method not working out for me.

Method 2:
1. Since these 2 Personal Folders point to the same Outlook.pst, then I
think what if I remove this Outlook.pst, at this moment the default deliver
location is still the newly created Personal.pst.
2. These 2 original Personal Folders still shown in the All Mail Folders
pane and I just can not remove them.

Method 3:
1. I reset the default delivery location back to Outlook.pst
2. Close the newly created Personal Folder and remove Personal.pst
3. Close Outlook 2003.
4. Remove Outlook.pst and hope the program will prompt me to create a new
one.
5. When I tried to launch Outlook.pst, it just complained can not find
"Outlook.pst" in the default directory and asked me to contact the system
admin, then quit the program.

Method 4:
1. Uninstall Outlook 2003 and reinstall Outlook 2003.
2. Remove everything under C:\Documents and Settings\%user%\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
3. Re-install Outlook 2003
4. Unfortunately, I still see 2 Personal Folders when I launch Outlook 2003
like it had before.

Due to this problem, now when I am going into the Address Boot, it has
multiple Contacts shown in the "Show names from the" drop down list. My wish
is very simple. Remove multiple Personal Folder, so I won't see multiple
Contacts in the Address Book drop down list, and the "Check Names" function
may work.

Any advice is very much welcomed. You can either post back to this news
group or send to my e-mail box directly.

Thanks,
Anthony

Create a new mail profile under Control Panel->Mail Icon->Show
Profiles->New. Do not copy the old profile, it is corrupt. Configure the
new mail profile to use your .pst file.
