Outlook 2003 forwarding an internet email to exchange server account

I just upgraded to Office 2003 to see how it would function with our setup
and I have run into an issue.

In Outlook XP I could receive an email through my internet account (hosted
offsite) and forward it to a recipient in our exchange 5.5 server
(non-internet). Outlook would send it just fine to that recipient,
recognizing that it is not an internet address and send it to the exchange
server.

In Outlook 2003 I receive an internet email and when I try and forward it to
an exchange 5.5 account it sends it through the account which received the
original email (internet email). This causes a bouce back email saying that
the address is invalid since it is using the exchange format for an email
address.

Has anyone else experienced this? I like some of the features of Outlook
2003, but if this cannot be fixed I will be forced to switch back to Office
XP.

Thanks for any help!

Josh

you'll need to select the exchange account on the Accounts button since
outlook sends on the account the message arrived on.

Diane,

When I did try that it worked. In the Outlook XP which I had installed
previously I never had to manually click the Accout. It did it for me.

Did something change in Outlook 2003 that could cause this to happen?

Yes, something changed. They used to look at the address, see it was in the
GAL and send it using exchange. Now it looks for a SMTP address and uses it.
If the exchange server collects internet mail it's delivered and all is well
and you are none the wiser :) ... but it sounds like your exchange is
internal only.

The change was made after numerous complaints from people who wanted to send
using pop and didn't like Outlook changing the sending account.
