Outlook 2003 doesn't export the "duration" field in Calendar?

Why doesn't Outlook 2003 export the "duration" field in my appointment. I
added the field by re-designing the form.
 
Maybe because it's redundant? The Start and End time provide all the information needed to know the duration.
