Outlook 2003 does an awful job of blocking SPAM!

I've had trouble with Outlooks SPAM filtering capabilities ever since I purchased the program. It's ridiculous. I even have it set to allow ONLY "SAFE SENDERS" (everything else is supposed to go to Junk Mail). It won't even do this correctly. I don't understand how they can put a product like this out on the market in a non-functioning state. If anybody has any useful suggestions, it would be appreciated.

Spammers spend time and effort into bypassing the default spam rules. Its
not the fault of MS. Invest in a third party anti spam app, create more
rules, or move to a server that has built in anti spam

I concur with David. We use a third party spam filter
(Cyphertrust's Ironmail) at the edge, and the 2k3 Outlook
cleans up the ones that squeak by. They compliment each
other well.

I have been using the Outloo 2003 spam capabilities quite well. You will
still find spam emails coming by, which you will need to create rules to
take care. I have found it a big help as compared to outlook 2002. I have
been able to get rid of 98% of the spam by using the rules & the inbuilt
spam filter. You should als update the spam filter. there was an update
released for this about a month ago, to make it more accurate.

Note: Many people have reported that the Spam Filter update actually
decreases its effectiveness so if you choose to install it, you cannot
uninstall it and revert to your previous filter. Most advise to stay away
from the updated filter.

Wow! I was not aware of this about the spam filter update. I am not sure
whether the effectiveness has reduced. I will hae to watch a little
carefully now.
