Hello!

I am working on a Windows Server 2003 terminal server environment
where I'm installing Office 2003 with Word, Excel, Powerpoint and
Outlook. I have created a transform with my custom setup and have
used this successfully on several servers. I enter the %username% and
the name of a valid Exchange server (ie: exchsrv1) in the custom
installation wizard.

I use a generic template account (ie: tmpacct) to make all of my
modifications and then save the profile to the "default user" profile.
It all works out great until you do something foolish like try to
start Outlook from this tmpacct that does not have a mailbox
associated with it. Then to compound the problem, I copied this over
to the default user account.

Now whenever I logon as a new user, it generates a message stating
"The name could not be matched to a name in the address list." while
it is doing the initial Outlook configuration.

I have tried uninstalling / reinstalling Office but it still retains
the tmpacct and exchsrv1 settings. I have also tried the Windows
Installer CleanUp utility hoping that there may be tidbits someplace.
Even after uninstalling Office you can find all sorts of traces of it
throughout the registry.

Is there any way of wiping this entry out so that the transform will
take effect again?

Thanks!

Mark

Create a new Default User Windows profile without configuring a mail
profile. Deploying an mst-file or just the prf-file is enough to configure
Office/Outlook for your users. This also give you a lot more flexibility to
change settings later.

Tips of the month:
-What do the Outlook Icons Mean?
-Create an Office 2003 CD slipstreamed with Service Pack 1

If I have corrupted my "default user" profile, won't the newly created
user get all settings when it logs in the first time? So the mail
profile would also be inherited.

Thanks!

When you logon as a new user and then remove the mail profile you can copy
that profile over the Default User profile.
