Newly configured Outlook 2003. When initially displaying contacts (set
up to sort filed-as, ascending using phone list view) everythings OK,
except, the list shows at the end where the z's are instead at the top
of the list where the a's are. It's sorted correct from a's at top to
z's at bottom but I have to scroll up to a's everytime I open contacts.
Sorry, I'm probably not finding the right words to describe.

This seems like a simple issue, just can't find the solution.

Thanks...

I think I can figure out what you're saying.
What happens if you highlight one of the A Contacts before you close the
Folder? Outlook Folders default to the last view you displayed the next time
you open them.

Yes Russ, if I highlight the first "a" contact to where everything
displays as I want, then close contacts and reopen it still displays
correctly until Outlook itself is closed. Upon opening Outlook up later
it reverts back to the "z" contact again.

Thanks for helping...

Can't reproduce that here. Check your settings. That seems like rather an
awkward view to be using. Any special reason you use it?

I was trying to simulate OE's view we've beeen using for years. Have
not decided to switch to Outlook yet. Now, I did bring in OE6 contacts
into Outlook contacts by importing internet addresses per MS Office
Online instructions using the "contacts method". Seemed to go OK. I've
not yet brought in any e-mails from OE.

What view do you recommend? In the mean time I'll switch views and see
if it makes a difference.

Russ,

Switched to "address card" view and it works correctly. Can't
understand why the "phone list" view does not.

Thanks...

Most likely because you imported these Contacts. Derived fields such as the
File As field become corrupt when you import Contacts.

OK, is there a way around this? How else would you get your OE6 WAB
into Outlook without a problem?

Thanks...

You cannot import Contacts without there being a problem. Importing is never
the same as creating a Contact Record natively.
