I had to upgrade to MSWord 2003 under XP in order to fix a bug with
MSWord/EndNote where it was using 100% of my CPU. I could only do this
by upgrading my entire office suite. I absolutely hate the new Outlook
GUI. How do I change it to get back to my pre-2003 settings?
Specifically:
1. The navigation pane always has the "add or remove buttons" button.
This takes up a lot of real estate. I want to get rid of it. How do I
do this?
2. I can get rid of the rest of the buttons in the navigation pane so
that I only have the "mail" button. But, I only want the "all mail
folders" window in it. How do I get rid of the "favorite folders"
window in the "mail" button in the navigation pane?
3. I have the "auto preview" turned off. However, in the "inbox" pane,
there are new lines taking up lots of real estate. These lines are
labeled "today," "yesterday," etc. How do I turn that off?
4. The new "header information" in the reading pane is much larger than
before. How do I make it look like the old way?
5. The new reading pane has a lot of dead space inside the pane around
the message. How do I make it look like the old way?
6. MSWord when it first comes up has a "Getting started" pane turned on.
How do I make it look like the old way by default when MSWord is first
started?
I looked for a couple of hours, and it appears I cannot change any of these
things, and I am not a novice user.
MicroSoft really needs to do some work to allow people to keep things the way
they were. Why do they always change GUIs at every revision?
