Outlook 2003 Column -v- Row View

I have just upgraded to Outlook 2003 from Outlook XP and see that the views
are in columns. This is an absolute pain as there is not enough room to see
enough of the details on the inbox and see the content.

When I could split the screen horizontally, as in the previous version, I
could see all of both windows, ie all the inbox details and all of the
content below (even if I did need to scroll)!

Does anyone know if you can change the view to row rather than column? The
online help is of no use whatsoever no matter how I word the question.

View, Reading pane, bottom?

FWIW, once you get used to it, the new layout shows a lot more content. But
it takes time to change habits. :)

Thanks for that.

There are so many options in so many menus and no matter what I tried in the
help I could not find this gem.

Once again, thanks.
