Outlook 2003 cannot delete old email account

This is a second post with the same question; the first reply didn't help.

I'm running Outlook 2003 SP1 running on Windows XP Home

I have an old United Kingdom mail account (freeserve) that will not delete
from Outlook's mailpass although it has deleted from the account management
section. This means that every time I run a mail pass it prompts me for the
password for that account which stops all further mail passes until I cancel
the failed attempt.

I have several other email accounts set up and they all work perfectly with
the appropriate ISP servers, it is just this one that seems to be invisible
in Outlook but causes the mail pass to hang on every pass.

When I go into account management (Tools>email accounts>view or change
existing accounts) this old account does not appear, so I cannot delete it!
This has been bugging me for months and now I really need to be able so set
Outlook to get mail every minutes automatically. Can anyone help, please?

Thanks, David

Create a new profile (do not copy it);
Control Panel-> Mail-> button Show Profiles

To access your current pst-file in the new profile;
File-> Open-> Outlook Data File...

To set it as the default delivery location;
Tools-> E-mail Accounts...-> button Next-> use the dropdownlist below

And you got the same advice this time as the last. Had you followed that
advice the first time, you would have found that it did help.

Sorry, bu I didn't understand how to follow the advice and since this ng
seems so busy I feared that my question had rolled out of sight, hence a
re-post. I was grateful for your reply. I am still struggling with the
instructions which I have followed carefully but I get stuck at the stage
where I am to create a new profile (which I can do) and open the pst file.
I don't know what to do with the pst file. Sorry to seem so dim about
this - I'm just a user of Outlook and I don't really get involved with the
'workings' :-)

Thanks, David

Follow the instructions in http://support.microsoft.com/?id=829918 to create
a new profile. Then, recreate your email account in the profile. Once
you're done with that, add a data file to the profile, but browse to your
existing PST rather than create a new one. You should have an operational
profile after that.
