I have noticed that windows shared fax service will not fax a document
using a dialing rule (in this case "9") to dial out of our PBX system
unless you go into each and every fax number and double click the
number in the contact and select ok. This enables the international
code: +1 (310) 123-4567 format. I was wondering if there was an
easier way (through a policy, script, etc.) to accomplish this.

:To accomplish what?

To change the phone numbers to international format. If a person has
200 entires in their address book and they are not in international
format already (which Outlook does not do by default) it would take
them hours to change them over.

:Al Microsoft Fax services require the phone number to which you are sending
:the fax is in "international format." Details on how to use international
:format to invoke dialing rules are available here:

I saw an older artical today when I was looking for some info...

It refered to a check box setting and then exporting contact and
re-importing them. This would cause all contacts to be set to international
format.

I do not remember the exact wording about the settting, but from memory, the
check box was somewhere in the New Call having to do with area code
inclusion. I have Office 2003, and found this by selecting a contact and
Actions|Call Contact|NewCall...|Dialing Options...|Automatically add country
code to local phone numbers. I don't expect this checkbox to make a
difference, but wanted to mention it.

Hope the export/import solves your issue!
