Outlook 2003 and Vista - Does it work?

We use Outlook 2003 as our email client software of choice… we however have a
small problem, since installing Vista Ultimate every time we click on a
mailto link on a website, we get a protected mode warning… and then the new
Windows Mail loads…

How do we set Outlook up as the default email client so that when we click a
mailto link it loads… we have tried the setting in Outlook itself, but that
appears to do little

Applied all Office updates already?
Also set it as the default through Start-> Default Programs

All updates are applied… and cannot set the program as default through the
control panel as it is not listed…. Only windows mail is listed…

There's your problem. Have you tried reinstalling Office already?

Fixed…

This is what I did in case it helps anyone else… I uninstalled office 2003
completely… and then rebooted. I then reinstalled the software this time
selecting the default installation directory… Upon installing the program, I
could then select Outlook as the default email program from the control
panel… I did this prior to installing any updates.

Initially I had office installed on the D drive and Vista installed on the C
drive… I am of the opinion that this is what was causing the problem… either
that or I just got lucky with a clean install.
