Had a slight problem over the holidays and had to have my entire PC backed up
and reinstalled. Reinstalled Outlook and transferred the old Outlook.pst
file to the new Outlook. Have all of my emails back, my contact list is
intact, etc. The only problem I have is when I try to send an email and I
click on the To: field to bring up all of my contacts I get this message:

“The address list could not be displayed. The contacts folder
associated with this address list could not be opened; it may have been moved
or deleted, or you do not have permissions. For information on how to remove
this folder from the Outlook Address Book, see Microsoft Outlook help."

I can see all of my contacts perfectly, I just can’t seem to send them mail.
I checked help but it didn’t seem to address my problem. Have you seen this
before, any idea what I should do to be able to send mail???

Many thanks,

jpe

Hi JPE,

The problem you are experiecing could be related to you not having your Contacts folder set up as an address book. Right-click on the contacts folder, choose Properties, click on the
Outlook Address Book tab and make sure you check "Show this folder as an email Address Book."

Russ, thanks for the lead to the Microsoft site that addressed my problem. I
deleted my address book and reinstalled, the problem is solved. Many thanks.

Then state how you "transferred" your PST file. You must not have done so
correctly.
