I have migrated all outlook 2002 users from Exchange 2000-
2003. All back-end public,system folders, and Exchange
config are set to the new 2003 server. However, some
(not all) Outlook clients continuously receive the
error "Requesting Data" error message for the old
server. Everything has been migrated, and the MAPI
clients' config is set to the new server. However, if
the old server is offline, they are till trying to
contact it.
Is there additional client configuration that should be
occurring? Is there anything I can do to ensure they are
all transitioned, as I need to take the original server
offline and rebuild.

I'm seeing something similar in my company but haven't
totally worked it out yet. Trying the following items has
helped some of my users, so the fix may be just on the
client side.
- If the problemed clients are running in Cached Exchange
Mode, shut it off. (checkbox in the user's mailbox/server
configuration dialog)
- Handheld devices may be configured to sync with the old
mailbox, may want to go into PalmPilot or Activesync
software and verify profile.
- Offline mailbox (OST) may not have updated properly. If
the user's online mailbox is current, I would recommend
disabling offline use and setting up a new OST.

Thanks for responding
The clients experiencing issues are Office XP clients
without offline files enabled. Office 2003 clients have
not had any issues. I thought about the PDA option as
well, but some of the affected users do not have them.
In addition, yesterday I took the old server offline. A
handful of individuals complained, others did not. I
brought it back online, which resolved them for the time
being. However when i took it offline again, a new set of
folks were having issues, not the original ones that
complained. Any other suggestions???

Thanks,
SEan
