I have 2002 office on my computer with all the latest
office updates, and my email responds very slowly. I am
not using corporate or a workgroup environment, just POP3
mail with DSL. But everytime I click on an email message
it takes up to 5 seconds to display the message in the
bottom window. I am using a Athalon XP 1800 with a ton of
memory with Windows XP Professional. Any suggestions?

Try disabling integration with WIndows Messenger (Tools>Options>Other)

I had the same problem and fixed it by changing my auto
archive setting (Options, Other). I had way too much
stuff in it and is was doing exactly what you are
describing. As an alternative, you may want to make sure
you don't have instant messaging enabled in Outlook.
