Hello,

Just upgraded from Outlook 2000 to Outlook 2002 (Office XP) and some, but
not all, users are experiencing an issue when starting Outlook.
They receive an error stating that the PST file(s) were closed improperly
and must be scanned.
I have run scanpst, cleaned any large pst's out and even reinstalled Outlook.
It stops for a while, but then reoccurs at random times.

Any ideas?
Thanks,
Joe

How did they close Outlook the last time before it happens? When they close
Outlook does the outlook.exe process indeed stop or does it keep on running?

Tips of the month:
-What do the Outlook Icons Mean?
-Create an Office 2003 CD slipstreamed with Service Pack 1

The times that I've tested the problem clients, the process was NOT running.
But I can't be sure that is the case every time.
Why wouldn't the OUTLOOK process stop when quitting Outlook?

Thanks

Several add-ins can cause this behavior and you'll end up closing Outlook in
a bad way. Are the pst-files stored on the local disk as well?

The pst files are stored locally on all pc's.
There are no additional add-ins, at least none I've installed.

Alright...

Does it also occus when you disable the virusscanner? (just for
troubleshooting of course) It could be holding the file locked when you
close Outlook.
Have you already tried recreating the mail profile in Control Panel-> Mail->
button Show Profiles...?
