Outlook 2002 Profiles

I have three profiles set up in Outlook. All the Help
articles say I can switch between them by either:

a) Clicking on the arrow next to the Send button in a new
message. But my Send button doesn't have an arrow.

b) Click on the "accounts" button in the New Message
toolbar. But I can't find an "accounts" button.

When I want to switch profiles I have to close Outlook
and reopen it with a different profile. Can you help?

Thanks.

No Outlook Help article would tell you that.
You can only have one Outlook profile open at a time. You seem to be reading
information about email accounts, not profiles.

Yes, I do mean e-mail accounts. (I thought they were the
same) Can you please tell me what is the difference
between e-mail accounts and profiles? How, then, do I
switch between e-mail accounts, given that I don't have
the arrow on the Send buttom or an Accounts button on the
toolbar?

Thanks very much.

What you claim is not consistent with Outlook 2002.
Check your version again and verify that you have set up 2 different email
accounts in your profile.

I have three e-mail "accounts" i.e. (e-mail address removed);
(e-mail address removed), and (e-mail address removed). I'm still not sure
how a "Profile" is defined. If I have the
(e-mail address removed) account open, and I wish to go to the
(e-mail address removed) account to send a message, I thought I
should be able to open a new message and choose
the "account" to send it from.

Thanks.

And indeed you can in every installation of Outlook 2002 I have ever seen.
That's why I asked you to verify your version and to verify that these are
indeed three different mail accounts all configured in the same Outlook
Profile, not just aliases for the same account. Also, are you looking at the
Toolbar in the new message window?

A Profile is simply a group of settings specified for an installation of
Outlook. Read more about them here:

In Help, About, I verified that I have Outlook 2002. I
read the article. In the Show Profiles dialog box, the
three addresses are shown (abc@.., def@..., ghi@...).
In the New Message window, I have no arrow on Send and no
Accounts button the toolbar. Perhaps I don't really have
three e-mail accounts, but just "aliaes" as you said?? If
so, should I convert the profiles to accounts to be able
to switch between them in the New Message window? If so,
how? Thanks for your patience.

Then it sounds to me as if you have created a separate Profile for each mail
account and that each Profile only has one email account. Did you? That
would explain why you would not have (or need) the choice of which account
to send from.
You do not need to have the accounts in separate profiles. If you put all
the accounts in one profile, you will have the ability to choose among them
when you send a message.

I'm sure you're correct. Someone else set everything up
for me and didn't ask me that question. If I wanted to
put all the accounts in one profile, can you tell me (in
general) how to do that or let me know the article that
explains it. Again, thanks.

Just add the other email accounts to any of your profiles using the Wizard
in Tools > E-mail Accounts > Add a new E-mail Account
