Outlook 2002 message being sent multiple times

Outlook 2002 (XP)
E-mail messages not making thier way to "sent items".
They are being sent multiple times (irritates recipients
and I can't tell if the message gets sent at all, or
multiple times).
During the "send / Recieve" process, about every minute
outlook goes through another "send" routine even though
the last one may not be complete and w/o me directing it.

I think I have the settings correct, but perhaps not. Any
ideas?

Hi,

Goto the properties ofthe account and then remove the check mark next to
"Leave a copy of the message on the Server" under the Advanced Tab.

That won't help - he's talking about messages being sent multiple times.
We've had reports of this and are investigating.
 
We are having a similar problem with a remote user, here
are some details for you to aid in your investigation:

SMTP server is Exchange 2000 with the latest post SP3
patches. Server is running SAV for Exchange (tried with
s/w disabled)
Server is behind a Cisco IOS Firewall
Client is Outlook XP on Windows XP, both with the latest
patches
Client is not running firewall software
Client is using NAV Corporate 7.5 - tried with S/W
disabled
Client is using SMTP Authentication
Tried with Cisco Firewall NOT inspecting SMTP traffic
from broadband, T1, dial-up and locally connected to the
LAN without success.

Specific to this one client, on this one instance of
Outlook XP. Problem does not occur if I pretend to be the
user from my workstation locally or remotely.

Problem does not occur for the user on the following SMTP
MTA's:
Sendmail
Qmail
Exchange 5.5 SP4

"Client" is our CEO so anything else I can do to help,
more info, trace logs, sacrificing a rubber chicken, etc.

We had the same multiple message problem (OL2002) except
we also got this error:
Task 'mail.mailserver.net - Sending and Receiving'
reported error (0x8004060C) : 'Unknown Error 0x8004060C'

MS says this error # is related to mail stopping due to
large psts and to use SP3. But sending and receiving
worked, and everyone was getting 3 or more copies. We
haven't patched yet. Will soon.

Scanpst did nothing but the pst was very large, close to 2
GB, but not quite. We decided to archive/save/rename the
old pst and make a new one, which now works correctly. We
can access the old one for old info but thats all.

Sorry if this isn't the right solution for you.
