Outlook 2002: Just thought of this - Message to sender when on a mailing list

I don't mind hearing from friends when they send a general mailing to a
bunch of friends but what I *do* mind is when they put all our names in
the TO or CC field instead of the BCC field.
Is it possible that O2K can tell if my incoming mail is on a "list" and
if it is, return a polite email to the sender saying I don't receive
emails on lists but please either use the BCC facility or send the email
privately.
Hope this makes sense.
Thanks
PS Am I correct in thinking that it is better to send a message to
yourself and the rest of the list in the BCC field?

No, whether your name is added manually to the To: or CC: field or is
inserted as a part of a distribution list is unknown by Outlook.

Yes, BCC on mass mail is appreciated by all. But I don't know of any way to
automate what you want. I have a stock reply I manually send back to any
sender who has been thoughtless in this way -

"May I don my Privacy Freak hat and ask that if you are going to send out
mass e-mails, that you use the BCC (blind carbon copy) field for all the
recipients? You can put your own email in the TO field to ensure delivery.
This way, nobody can see anyone else's email addy, and in these days of
spam, and not knowing where an e-mail will end up (posted to websites,
sometimes), I think everyone would benefit from having their e-mail
addresses treated as unlisted phone numbers."

It seems to work, and hasn't offended anyone yet, that I know of. Most
people just don't think of these things and intend no harm.
