Hi,

I use a dial up connection and recently got infected despite a firewall and
the updated virus protection. As a result had to reconfigure Outlook so I
deleted one of the accounts I use. Now Outlook is trying to send a message
from that account which I had deleted from the Outbox as the e-mail address
has changed.

I can't send any messages. Receiving messages is fine but cant send any coz
Outlook is using the deleted account and giving me error messages. Please
help!!

Thanks,

If I understand your problem correctly Outlook keeps trying to send using a
deleted account. You may want to look for the account in the registry to
see if the account still exists there and if it does then you can delete
it. If you are not comfortable making changes in the registry then you may
not want to try this procedure. If you want to do it then you should backup
the registry before do anything incase you make a mistake. Here is the
location in the registry where accounts are stored for Outlook,
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\OMI Account
Manager\Accounts under the Accounts folder each account will be listed
sequentially, for example 00000001 and 0000002. Click on each account and
then look for the SMTP Email Address field in the right pane and find the
e-mail address for the deleted account. If the account is listed then
highlight the account (for example 00000001) and delete it.

I hope this information is helpful.

That's only for Outlook 2000 in IMO and the OP specifically said Outlook
2002. That means the account information is in
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\WIndows NT\CurrentVersion\WIndows Messaging
Subsystem\Profiles\profilename

Thank you, this really helped
