I am having the same problems as some of the other people posting problems
with email settings and Outlook. I recently purchased a Compaq Laptop and
came with a trial version of Office XP. After the trial period, I decided not
to buy it,because I already had Office XP in My desktop. I went ahead and
removed Office 2003 from my Laptop, and installed Office XP Pro. After
installation, I noticed that all of the programs are installed and working
properly, but Outlook. When I try to set up Outlook, I get the same messages
that everybody else is getting." Unable to open default email folders.Could
not open the item, try again".Then I get another screen with the following
message" Would like to open your default file system folder intead? " If I
say yes it would open to an screen with the minimun amount of folders, but no
email capabilities, or calendar, etc....no Outlook folders. If I say no, it
will close Outlok for good.
I have been reading, all the posted notices from everybody, and I can not
see any clear answer to the posted problems. For heavens sake, wher is Microft
assitance when you need it?
Your help and assistance would be greatly appreciated. It is a long post, but
I want it to make sure, I have explained the problem in deatail. Thanks
