hp until yesterday, every time I clicked send/receive, I got a progress
report showing how many emails were coming through etc. THis has now
disappeared. having read through previous subjects on this matter, I tried
the solutions suggested (click tools, send/receive settings/show progress)
but it seems that if I want the progress I now have to go through this
process each time! - very annoying. How can I set this as a default so I
don't have to keep going to ask it to show progress each time I request
emails. Thanks

I've just answered my own question. For your interest here is the answer.
When receiving email, click on tools, send/receive settings, show progress;
when the dialogue box shows UNTICK the box which says "don't show this
dialogue box each time" I swear I didn't touch it before, so don't know how
it got ticked disabled in the first place!
