Outlook 2002 error message

For the last several days when the "send/receive" command
finishes I receive the following error message: "Sending
and Receiving reported error (0x800CCC0F): the connection
to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues,
contact your system administrator or your ISP." I've
checked and rechecked all the settings including the
server timeouts. I've increased and decreased the time
with no change. Interestingly the same thing is
happening on my computer that runs Window 98 and Outlook
2000. Anyone else having this problem or know what to
do? Thanks.
 
Do you have any anti-virus or firewall software on the machines? Some of
that software can cause these problems. Try disabling them - if that fixes
the problem, you probably need an update from the vendor.

I disabled both Zone Alarm and Norton Antivirus. Same
error message after the Send & Receive command/function
was completed. The program is not allowing the server
to "check to clean up messages on the server". I keep
getting some of the same messages over and over in
addition to new messages. I can't figure out what to do.
This never happened before, I've been using Zone Alarm &
Norton for some time.
 
I have the exact same problem. Everything was working fine until about two weeks ago. I tried disabling my anti-virus and creating a new email account as the KB article suggested. I still get the error. Interestingly, I still can send and receive email

As a side note, I am using Mailwasher to filter spam. It can no longer access the mail server to delete the Spam so I think the problem is on the server side
