yet this file does not exist when running the inbox repair tool. One day, all my emails disappeared in fac everything just got lost and now I get this error message. any thoughts?
Are you sure the file doesn't exist? If you're using Windows 2000 or XP,
the .PST file may very well be in a hidden folder, so you'll need to search
those too.

The error message appears when the .PST file has been corrupted -- it can
happen for any number of reasons, but a big one is having the .PST file open
and in use when the connection to Outlook is broken (assuming the file is
not located on the same hard drive as Outlook).
