I'm having a big problem with Outlook XP.

I can open the program and watch it retrieve my e-mail,
just like it always
has. I can click on subject and read it in the preview
pane.

BUT, if I try to compose, NEW e-mail or forward, open or
reply to an
existing one, I get an error dialog reporting that there
was a problem with
Outlook.
There is a checkbox to restart it immediately, and the
option to send a
report to Microsoft.

The same problem occurs in other panes, I can't create a
new appointment or
contact either.

All the other

So far I have:

Re-installed Windows XP (Upgrade route)
Unintalled Office XP
Re-Installed Office XP
Re-Installed OXPSP1
Re-Installed OXPSP2

Not of this has had any effect. I had an uncommanded
shutdown earlier in the
day due to some conflicts with other programs (not
related to Outlook) but
possibly a file became corrupted at the time. I'm really
out of ideas here
as to where to turn next.

I'd try the following:

- Start Outlook in safe mode ("outlook.exe /safe") to see if the problem
continues. It okay, start looking at the extensions that have been
added to Outlook (Tools -> Options -> Other -> Advanced).

- Check the size of your .pst file to see if it is getting near 1.87 GB
(2GB) in size. That's it max size limit.

- Exit Outlook, rename its outcmd.dat file, and restart Outlook (with
the default toolbars) and check.
