I have approximately 3500 emails in my current Inbox, 4800
in a Folder named 2003 and 3200 in a Folder named 2002 and
want to move these emails to my server for backup/safety
purposes.

I have created Folders on my server to break up the years
into quarters. However when I copied the first quarter
over it saved the emails using the Subject line rather
than the name. When I try to conduct a search using names
I know are within the emails I get nothing.

Any ideas? Any help would be greatly apprecited.

You'd be better off keeping the messages in a .PST file where their format
would be preserved just as if they were still in your current .PST. To do
this, use File | New to create a new .PST file in your Folder List -- give
it a name like Q12002, if you like. Create one or more mail folders in this
new .PST. Now drag the messages from the first quarter of 2002 from your
existing "2002" folder to the appropriate folder(s) in the new Q12002 .PST.
When you're done moving items to this .PST, you can close it out of Outlook
(for now) by right-clicking the root folder and selecting Close from the
menu. You'll be able to open this file again in Outlook at any time in the
future by using File | Open | Personal Folders File. Now, do the same for
any other .PST file you want to create, and drag and drop items to these
files as needed.
