Outlook 2000 with Windows 2000

I am trying to add additional mailboxes in Outlook under
the Tools/Services/Exchange Server Properties/Advanced
tabs but it doesn't allow it.

Is anyone aware of this issue. All machines with Windows
2000 SP4 don't allow it. However the machines that were
originally setup with SP3 and then had SP4 installed
later seem to work.

Outlook says "The name could not be resolved. The action
could not be completed".

Usually when you hit the add button it allows you to type
the mailbox name that you want but I don't even get the
option to do so.

What, exactly is the error message you receive?

So this message pops up as soon as you hit the Add button?

First off, check Tools | Options | Mail Services. Is the default Delivery
location set to the Exchange mailbox on this machine?

Also, check in the Registry using REGEDIT. What is the data for the
Rpc_Binding_Order value in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Exchange\Exchange Provider\?

Are there any other account types set up in this profile, such as an
Internet Mail Account?

My email is delivered to my mailbox on the server.

The data associated with the registry entry that you
specified is:

ncalrpc,ncacn_ip_tcp,ncacn_spx,ncacn_np,netbios,ncacn_vns_
spp

No other accounts are setup.

Does this answer your questions?

You can email directly if you would like.

hmmm - if you set up a profile for one of these problem person's mailboxes
on one of the good machines, do they still have this issue trying to add
additional mailboxes through Services | Microsoft Exchange Server |
Advanced?

Also, let's try changing that registry value.

First, back up that key by selecing
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Exchange\Exchange Provider in Regedit.
With that key selected, select Export Registry file from the Registry menu.
Place the file wherever you wnat - this will be the backup we can
double-click on to restore things if this messes something up.

Now, double click the Rpc_Binding_Order value and change it to this:
ncacn_ip_tcp,ncalrpc,netbios,ncacn_spx,ncacn_np,ncacn_vns_spp

Close Regedit and reboot the PC. Is there any change?

Also, this is probably a dumb question, but have you tried creating a
completely fresh, new profile for the folks on these problem machines?

I tried making the change that you suggested and there
was no change in outlook.

When I was running on Windows NT 4.0 I was able to add
additional mailboxes. Now I'm running Windows XP
Proffessional on a different PC and I can't. Both times
I was running Outlook 2000. Same is true for the others
that are running Windows 2000.

I have been looking on Microsofts websites to see if this
is a known problem but I can't find anything.
