In the past 2 days, I'm unable to launch Microsoft Outlook 2000 from my
computer.

I've got a Dell Computer with Windows XP Home Edition.
I loaded Microsoft Office 2000 (including Outlook), and it was working fine
until a few days ago. Now, I'm getting an error message that says "Microsoft
Outlook has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience." I then click "Send Error Report", but nothing has happened.

I tried downloading updates for Outlook 2000 from the Microsoft Website, but
the Outlook program still won't start.

Can you help me to solve this problem?

Thanks
Tim

Have you tried running scanpst.exe against the file? How big is your .pst
file? .pst file over about 1.7 gigs will cause problems and can throw the
error message you receive.

Hi my .pst file is 24 MB, not very large - as I usually file or delete all
messages.
Thanks for your reply, however I'm still getting the same error message!
Tim.

Hi,
I've got the same problem - Windows XP with Small Business 2000, and
Outlook's just stopped working. It won't fire up - I don't even get the
error message. I've tried downloading updates and fixes as well. Outlook
Express is working fine, though.
I can't think of anything.
I logged on as a different user - and got it working. Therefore something
in my settings must have changed so reinstalled office from the cd - to no
avail.
If you get any brainwaves please shout!
