Outlook 2000 Updates Slowed Me Down!

I installed MS Office Professional on my new computer a month or so ago.
I've used it for years on a portable. Everything was running fine until last
night. I was having trouble reformating dates from a column of data I got
off a Federal Reserve Bank site and thought, perhaps, there was a Y2K update
I put on my portable that I should also put on the new machine.

Tehre were two updates that asked for my Office Professional disc plus one
for Front Page. When everything was done, and I shut down Windows XP, I got
a fdew message of files/programs not responding which occurs from time to
time. They merely tell me I may loose some data recently entered but nothing
has ever been affected negatively.

Today I fired up Outlook and it rusns as slow as molasses. I ran a virus
scan. Nothing! I don't know it there's a relation here but there may be.
Anyone have an idea?

Clarification: This is noticible with the remionders that pop up. Attemoting
to click them and delay them causes the cursor to move very slowly. It seems
that the computer isn't responding quickly to commands involving those
pop-ups as well as mail messages.I just noticed that messages say at the top
"Re: - Message (HTML) - US - ASCII". I've never noticed this before.
