I have Outlook 2000 and my pst file has grown to 2.3Gb. Now Outlook locks up
whenever I try to open it. I just purchesed Outlook 2003, that supports
larger pst files, but I can't get 2003 to regognize the file created in
2000. I have tried the repiar tools and exporting from 2000 won't work
because it locks up. I don't want to lose all my contacts and messages. Is
there a 3rd party tool or something that can help me? Thank you!

Hi Adin
On the whole then Microsoft doesnt support files over 2GB
but I have found two links that might help

Firstly you can download a tool (2gb152.exe)from:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?
displaylang=en&FamilyID=B33B1DFF-6F50-411D-BBDF-
82019DDA602E

This tool will truncate the PST file into smaller chunks
so that you can at least get into the file to retrieve the
information that you need.

Secondly, you can see the following article for help on
compacting the mailbox size for the future to stop it
getting to that size again (other than normal housekeeping)

Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 196990 - OL2000: (CW)
Compacting Outlook PST and OST Files

Hope this helps
