I have an Advent laptop which is connected to a new HP Deskjet 5150 printer
via USB. The Advent is running Windows ME and Office 2000.

The HP 5150 is the default printer and is set up for printing to normal
paper. It works perfectly with every application except Outlook. Any
attempt to print any Outlook data, eg a text email, opens a save dialog for
"print to file". I have to repeatedly cancel several of these dialogs
before Outlook crashes with the following error: "Outlook has caused an
error in HPF(XDRO.DRV. Outlook will now close."

I can't find any reference to this problem in MS KB hence the posting here.

Any help gratefully received.

Problem solved.

The original printer was configured for network use and the laptop isn't
being used on a network meantime. When the 5150 was installed recently,
it became the default. Unistalling the original printer drivers did the
trick.
