I have created several new folders in the My Shortcuts where I save
email depending on who it is from. What I need to know is where that
folder/data is stored. Is this data stored in the standard .pst file?

Thanks for any and all help

Depends... did you create folders on your hard drives or new folders in the
mailbox folder?

I created the folders by going to File, New, Folder in Outlook itself,
then choosing to have a shortcut added to the Outlook Toolbar in
Outlook 2000. I for the life of me can't see the folders located
anywhere on my hard drive with a search. I had the search choose
hidden and system folders. What worries me is that I store needed
emails in these folders and I am not sure what I need to do to back
these up if I ever need to do a restore.

Thanks

Those are in the pst - show the folder list (Ctrl+6) and look for them.

Hi Diane, just followed your link to your web site....will keep this
link for future reference!

Here is my problem.

1. I used Genie-Soft Outlook Backup 6.0 to back up Outlook 2000. No
problems that I know of when backing up, verify backup was fine.

2. Also copied the .pst file along with the Microsoft Outolok Internet
Sttings.fav file.

3. Installed Office 2000 Pro with Outlook 2000 for Internet mail only
on a "Fresh" Windows XP Pro SP2 Install.

4. I then copied the .pst file to the C:\Documents and
Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
directory, as well as the Microsoft Outolok Internet Sttings.fav file.

5. I then opened Outllok and found everything as it should be
including the "New" folders I had created in the "My Shortcuts" in the
Outllok Bar. However when I go to open one of the folders in the
Outolok Bar Iget an error message about the folder either being deletd
or moved. There is no data in ay of them and there was when I did the
backup.

6. I next tried the Genie-Soft Outlook Backup restore feature, which
did not help either.

Does any of this make sense, or am I just totally confused?

Any ideas?

Thanks, Mike

This is probably the result of what you describe in the prior step:
4. I then copied the .pst file to the C:\Documents and
Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
directory,

I suspect you overwrote a PST that already existed in that folder. Doing
this usually corrupts the mail profile, giving you references to folders
that don't exist. Never overwrite an existing PST. You should try creating
a new profile. See this:
