howdy all,

Is there a simple way to lock an incoming mailbox (actually a subfolder of Inbox) with a password (rather than using profiles). I want to keep the kids out of my business emails.

maybe theres a utility out there? I have one that locks regular folders but it doesnt work on Outlook folders :-(

TIA,

Rob

You can lock all of Outlook or use password protected screen saver when
away from your computer.

To password protect Outlook, go to Outlook Today, right click and select
properties, then advanced. Set your password there and do NOT forget it. It
can cost up to $600 for password recovery services.

Oh, and a little education for your kids about minding their own business
and not prying into yours might be in order as well.

It's not the kids fault that I get Viagra email every other second.
Thanks for the password tip!

They know the way around locked screensavers. And, I really didn't want to lock all of Outlook just one folder.

You cannot lock a single folder, it is either all or none.

You can use http://www.lastbit.com/covertmail
CovertMail is a software which helps to keep your e-mail private. This
program is designed to work jointly with Outlook Express. It provides
complete privacy and security of your message store, protecting it
from anyone who may want to access your correspondence without
authorization. Outlook Express (version 5 and higher) lets you create
several identities and even password-protect them.

Best regards, Tim.

Thanks for the password tip!

Sounds like you need to upgrade your anti-spam software.

My suggestion, then, would be to create a new Personal Folders file, move
that one folder into it, and password-protect that PST. All other folders
would remain as they are.

bummer it won't work with Outlook only Outlook Express.
I only use Outlook Express to read the NGs, I use Outlook for everything else.
Imo...its the one shortcoming of Outlook..no ng reader..

thanks anyway..

Sorry, no cigar. The OP distinctly said "Outlook", not "Outlook Express".
Read before posting next time.
