Before I started working for my company, their old IT staff had
problems with their Outlook 2000 after installing Office 2000. To try
different ways of working around the issue, they installed the
stand-alone version of Outlook 2000 OVER Office 2000, because "That's
what works, so why not?". (My opinion is that their stand-alone of
Outlook had one of the first patches that MS gave out, and this is why
they did not have issues with it after performing this "workaround". I
have installed straight-up Office 2000 installs and just used Office
update with the same results- no issues.)
The problem now arises with attempting to uninstall Outlook 2000 and
Office 2000 from machines that have had Outlook installed OVER Office.
In some cases, I'm just trying to do a clean install of Office 2000,
and in others, due to how management purchased the licenses for my
company, I need to install Office Standard instead of Office Pro.
Has anyone had a similar problem, or does anyone know of a way to
uninstall this software after it has been jury-rigged like this? When
I try to uninstall the software, it gives me the usual uninstallation
jazz, and then disappears, while the software still stares me in the
face in "Add/Remove Programs"
