Outlook 2000 fails to shut down completely

It used to be that when I exited from Outlook 2000, I got
a little box saying something like "Please wait while
Outlook shuts down". And it then closed down completely,
I.e. It couldn't be found in Task Manager, even under the
Processes tab. With the back-up add-in, if this was due to
do its thing, it then would.

These last few days (couple of weeks, say), this does not
happen. Exiting gets rid of Outlook from the task bar and
the Applications tab of the Task manager, but it's still
on the Processes tab, runniing in the background, and the
back-up add-in doesn't start, even though I've
specifically requested a back-up. ending the process in
Tesk Manager doesn't get the back-up to start, either.

The only Outlook-related change I've made recently was to
install two applications: Antidote, a French proofing
tool, and ScanSoft PDF Converter. Both these added add-ins
to Outlook, but I installed Antidote well before this
started to happen - I think. Before I uninstall these two
I'd be grateful if anyone had any ideas.
