Outlook 2000 can't import PST file exported from same PC

I exported a folder as a PST file and now can't import it.
"Properties for this information service must be defined prior to use"
then
"Not a personal folders file"
How to fix? No backup naturally.

This is a pretty good indication that the PST is toast, but try running the
Inbox Repair Tool (SCANPST.EXE). ALso, the PST must be on your hard drive
and have the read-only attribute removed.
 
Well, that will teach me to delete files before I am sure I can recover
them. Outlook is garbage, if it can't even import and export files safely.
I'm dumping it. Any better solutions than scanpst?
