I openned Outlook today and it tried to install Outlook 2007. Once I beat
this back, it started downloading my mail but did not show any of the
categories such as sender, subject, date, size, etc.
WHat to do about this?

Can you start from the beginning? Outlook doesn't start installing itself.
If you mean a repair, why did you cancel it (if I should translate "beat
this back" with pressing Cancel).

Have the repair complete itself and re-download the now (probably) crippled
messages.

Thanks for the response. I have a relatively new Dell laptop running XP. I
loaded an older copy of Outlook 2000 as this is what I've been using for a
while. This morning, I noticed new icons on my desktop. These icons are for
Outlook 2007. It is possible that this version of Outlook was installed at
Dell, but not very likely. Since I have a password, I don;t think my kids
loaded up Outlook 2007.

When I clicked on the Outlook 2007 icon, it started installing and I
cancelled it. Then I noticed that my old Outlook 2000 icon was not visible
so I found it in Program Files/Microsoft Office. I put the shortcut back on
the desktop and clicked. This openned Outlook 2000 as normal. Except that
none of the subjects and senders information was visible. When I clicked on
one of the seemingly blank messages, it was a real email so it wasn't a blank
one. I then Went to View to change the options in case the subject and
senders were not selected - but they were.

Mail downloaded yesterday looks normal, but today's doesn't.

AVG virus scan shows no viruses.

Any idea what's going on and how to fix it?

Thanks
Greg

Pretty much all OEM manufacturers (like Dell) pre-install their laptops with
a trial copy of Office 2007. If you do not wish to use it, uninstall this
version first via Control Panel-> Add/Remove Programs before installing any
other version. At this point you should remove both versions and then
install (and update) Outlook 2000 again.
